Bible Craft for Daniel Refuses King's Food

Materials

1. for the bowls of food, heavy construction paper, felts, paints or crayons in colors you like.

1. for the glass of wine and the glass of water, heavy construction paper, felts, paints or crayons in  dark red for the wine and light blue for the water in the glass

Instructions:

1.  Cut out the bowl with the chicken, paste on construction paper, color as you like.  Cut out the glass of wine, paste on construction paper, color in dark red for the wine, and draw in light blue for the water in the glass

Explain to the children how Daniel and his friends were captured by king Nebuchadnezzar and taken to Babylon where they were brought to the palace.  Tell them how the king wanted them to eat the same food he did, which was meat and wine.

2.  Cut out the bowl of vegetables and the glass of water, and paste them on construction paper, color as you like the vegetables to be and light blue for water in the glass.

Explain to the children how God made Daniel to be well thought of by the person caring for him, and  how Daniel decided that he would not defile himself with the king's food, and asked for himself and his friends to be fed only vegetables to eat and water to drink for ten days while the other children were fed meat and wine to drink.

Explain to the children how after ten days, Daniel and his friends were much healthier than all the other children that ate of the king's meat and drank his wine, and so from that time on, Daniel and his friends ate vegetables and drank water, and God gave them knowledge in everything they learned..  and gave Daniel the ability to understand dreams.

Note:  what a great lesson for children to know the value of vegetables and fresh water in their diet.
