Childrens Book of 1 Timothy
Chapters 1 - 2

I have written this for children, based solely on the Word of God, but condensed for them... and used Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary for clarification of some words. My added comments are in italics, memory verses are included.

Paul's letter to Timothy regarding how Christians should conduct their lives, and order in the churches.

Chapter 1

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ which is our hope.  To Timothy, my son in the faith: grace, mercy and peace from God our Father, and Jesus Christ our Lord.

As I told you to stay at Ephesus when I went into Macedonia, so that you should instruct some that they should teach no other doctrine (in opposition to the Christian faith), nor listen to stories or endless histories that only serve to bring up questions, rather than godly building up in the (Christian) faith.  do this. The end of (this) commandment (to teach the Ephesians) is love out of a pure heart, and a good conscience, and faith from which some have turned aside, they would rather listen to silly talk.  They desire to be teachers of the law, but they don't understand what they are teaching, and they don't understand the law itself.

We know that the law is good if a man uses it for the purpose that it was given, (to convict men that they are sinners).  The law is not made for a righteous man, but for the those who are disobedient, for anything that is in opposition to sound doctrine (the Christian faith); according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to me (it was given to Paul to be the apostle to the Gentiles, to take to them the truth of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.)

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me (Paul) ability, and put me (Paul) into the ministry: who before was a person who spoke against the Lord Jesus, and was a persecutor (of Christians).  But I was given mercy, because I did it in unbelief.. (Paul did these things before he believed in the Lord Jesus, before the Lord Jesus appeared to him on the road to Damascus.)

And the grace of our Lord was filled with faith and love which is Christ Jesus.  This is a faithful (trustworthy) saying, (because it is the word of God) and is worthy for all to accept, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief..

But for this cause (that Paul should be the apostle to the Gentiles) I was given mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ would show all patience through trials and tribulations, for a pattern to all those that will believe on (Jesus) to everlasting life.

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever.  Amen.

Timothy, I order you that you might fight a good fight, holding faith, and a good conscience...

Memory Verse: 1 Timothy 1:15  "This is a faithful saying, and is worthy for all to accept, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, ............ "

Chapter 2

First of all, requests, prayers (for ourselves), intercessions (prayers for others) and giving of thanks, be made for all men.  For kings, and for all that are in authority, so that we will lead a quiet and peaceful life in godliness and honesty.  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, (Jesus was a man in that he took upon himself the likeness of men, a body of flesh and blood) who gave himself a ransom for all, (the Lord Jesus Christ took upon himself the penalty for the sins of the world) to be testified in the proper time (testifying means preaching the gospel)

I (Paul) am appointed a preacher, and an apostle (I speak the truth and do not lie) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Therefore, I say that men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands (holy because they are living a life following Jesus through the leading of the Spirit), without anger (towards another believer) or doubting (that God will hear him)

In the same way, women should dress in modest clothing, taking care not to wear anything that will bring attention to themselves, or cause them shame.  Not with braided hair, (elaborate, not simple) or gold, or pearls (wearing excessive jewelry) or expensive clothing (that again, draws attention to themselves)  But a godly woman should be adorned (known) by her good works (that she performs according to the leading of the Spirit)

Let the women learn in silence, in submission (to her husband as head, and to the leaders of the church)

A woman is not allowed, nor to have or take authority over a man, but (she is) to be in silence.

Because Adam was first formed, and then Eve.  And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and she was the one to disobey the command (not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil)

Memory Verse: 1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."
