return to childrens new testament books
Childrens Book of 2
Corinthians
Chapter 13
I have written this for children, based solely on the Word of God, but condensed for them... and used Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary for clarification of some words. My added comments are in italics, and there is a Memory Verse at the end.
Chapter 13
This is the third time that I come to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses everything shall be made firm. (The actions of those in the church which will now come to light and be judged by those in authority over the members of the church)
I told you before, and I am telling you again as if I were with you, and I am writing to those who have sinned, and telling you that if I come, I will not spare (those that have sinned against the church)
You desire proof that Christ speaks in me (because they have been listening to false teachers and now doubt Paul). Though he (Christ) was crucified, he lives by the power of God. We also are weak (in ourselves) but we shall live with him by the power of God..
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. (if the Corinthians look at themselves, and believe that they are saved by faith, than that faith came by the preaching of Paul, and that is proof that Christ speaks in him)..
I pray to God that you do no evil..but that you should do that which is honest. For we can do nothing against the truth (of God and the Lord Jesus Christ) but for the truth.
We are glad when we are weak, and you are strong: and we wish your perfection (that they would continue to grow in their faith through the grace and strength of God till the day of their redemption)
Therefore I am writing to you when I am away from you, because if I were present with you, I might have to use sharp words according to the power which the Lord has given me to the building up (of those in the faith) and not to your destruction.
Finally brothers, farewell. Be perfect (stop sinning and be of one mind, the mind of faith) be comforted (encouraged by what Paul has told them) be of one mind, live in peace: and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
Greet each other with a holy kiss.. (of sincerity and purity)
All the saints solute you.. (greetings from the other churches)
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost (the spirit within each believer), be with all of you. Amen.
Memory verse: 2 Corinthians 13:14 "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all"
note: this verse is chosen because it is concerning all three members of the Trinity.
