Easy Chocolate Fudge

This fudge is very smooth and chocolatey.  Fun to give as gifts:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter or margarine (butter is better)
1 - 6oz package chocolate pudding mix, not instant
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 tsp vanilla
500 grams sifted icing sugar

In small, heavy saucepan, melt the butter.  Stir in pudding mix and the milk.  Bring to bubbling boil, stirring constantly.  Remove from heat and add nuts and vanilla.  Beat in half of the sugar gradually.   Cool sufficiently to touch.  Knead in remaining sugar  with buttered hands.  Press into buttered 8 inch square pan.  Mark into squares with knife and place a walnut piece on each square.  Cool until set.  Cut in squares with sharp knife.  It may be refrigerated until set if you wish.
