Play Dough

This play dough will stay soft indefinitely when stored in airtight containers.

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp alum (available in drugstores)
1/2 cup salt
1 1/2 cup water
1 tbsp vegetable oil
red, blue, green, yellow food coloring, or others you like

Instructions:

Mix together in a large bowl the flour and alum, set aside.

In a saucepan, heat salt, water and oil just to boiling; pour into flour mixture.  Let cool slightly, then knead until combined.

Divide into four equal portions; pat each flat.  Add a few drops of food coloring to each portion, using 1 color for each.  Knead thoroughly to distribute the color evenly.  Add a drop more at a time until you reach the color you want.

Store it inside plastic bags, ziploc bags, or airtight containers.

Makes about four 2-inch balls.
