Fishers of Men - Jesus Chooses
His Disciples

This is a story of some of the people the bible tells us about that Jesus chose to be his disciples:
One day the Lord Jesus was preaching, standing by the lake of Gennesaret, and he saw two ships by the lake, but the fishermen were not in them, they were washing their nets. And so, because there were so very many people listening to him, he went into one of the ships, which was Simon's (that is Peter) and asked to be taken out away from the land, and Jesus sat down, and taught the people from the ship.
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Launch your ship out into the deep water, and let down your nets for a catch." And Simon answered him "Master, we have worked hard all night, and caught nothing, but at your word, I will let down the nets." And when they did this, they captured a very great number of fish, so many that their net broke.
And they called to their partners, which were in the other ship, and asked that they would come and help them, and so they came, and filled up both ships with so many fish that they began to sink!
When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees and said "Go away from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord". For he was amazed, and so were all that were with him, at the number of fishes which they had caught.
And so were James, and John, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, "Fear not; from now on you shall catch men." And when they had brought their ships to land, they left all, and followed Jesus.
Another day Jesus went to Galilee and found Philip and said to him "Follow me". Philip was from the city of Bethsaida, which was the city that Andrew and Peter lived too.
Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found him that Moses wrote about in the law, and who the prophets wrote about too, that is, Jesus of Nazareth..." And Nathanael said to Philip "Can there be any good thing come out of Nazareth?" So Philip said to him "Come and see" ...
And Jesus chose Matthew Levi to be his disciple too.. you can read about Matthew here: Jesus Chooses Matthew
And it came to pass that Jesus went out into a mountain to pray, and he prayed all night to God. And when it was day, he called his disciples to him, and chose twelve of them who he also named apostles. These twelve are:
Simon (who Jesus also named
Peter)
Andrew (the brother of Peter)
James
John
Philip
Bartholomew
Matthew
Thomas
James the son of Alphaeus
Simon who was also called Zelotes
Judas, the brother of James
Judas Iscariot who was the traitor.
Memory Verse: Luke 5:10...Fear not, from henceforth, thou shalt catch men.
only one question... can you from memory list the twelve apostles that Jesus chose?
