One day some people brought babies to Jesus, but the disciples were not pleased about that.  But Jesus called them and said "Allow the little children to come to me, and do not tell them they cannot come.  Truly I say to you, whosoever will not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no way enter in.  And Jesus took them up in his arms, and blessed them.

And when he had left the children, a certain ruler (Luke 18:18 says he was a ruler) came running, and kneeled to him, and asked Jesus "Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"  And Jesus said to him "Why do you call me good?  none is good except one, that is, God.  You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not lie, honour your father and your mother."  And the ruler said "All these I have kept from when I was young till now."

Now when Jesus heard these things, looking at him, he loved him, and he said to him "Yet you lack one thing, sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross and  follow me."

But when he heard this, he was very unhappy, because he was very rich. and he went away.  And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples "Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!  It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

And they were all very surprised at this, and said "Who then can be saved?" and Jesus, looking at them, said "With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

Memory Verse: Mark 10:27 "And Jesus looking upon them said With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.."

Answers:
1 He meant they had to be as trusting and believing as little children are.
2 He told him to sell everything he had, and follow him.
3 Because Jesus knows everything, and he knew the man loved his riches more than he wanted to follow Jesus.
4 Because he would rather have kept his riches than follow Jesus.
5 He said it was hard for people who trusted in riches to enter the kingdom of heaven.
