One day Jesus went to a city called Nain, and many of his disciples with with him, and many other people as well.
When Jesus came close to the city, there was a dead man being carried out. He was the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, (that means her husband had died), and there were many people with her.
And when the Lord saw her, he was full of compassion, (that means he felt sorry for her, and he wanted to help her) and he said to her, "Do not weep." And he came and touched the coffin, and the people who were carrying the coffin stood still, and the Lord Jesus said "Young man, I say to you, Arise."
And the man who was dead sat up, and began to speak. And Jesus took him to his mother. And all the people were very fearful, and they gave God the glory saying that a great prophet was risen up among them, and that God had visited his people. And the news of this went forth through all Judea, and all the region around there.
The people did not understand that Jesus was God, and that was the reason he had the power to raise the widow's son, they thought that he was a prophet.
