After Jesus appeared to Thomas, he showed himself again to the disciples in this way. Simon Peter and some of the other disciples were at the sea of Tiberias, and Peter said "I go a fishing" so they all went fishing, but they caught nothing. And in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but they didn't know it was Jesus. He said to them "Children do you have any meat?" and they answered "No" So Jesus told them to throw their net on the right side of the ship, and when they did they caught very many fish! And so John, who was with the disciples, said to Peter "It is the Lord!" And when Peter heard that, he threw himself into the sea. And the other disciples came and brought with them the net with all the fish, and as soon as they got to shore there was a fire built with fish and bread all ready for them, and Jesus said to them "bring the fish which you caught" And so Peter took the net of fish, and there were 153 fish, and the net did not break. And Jesus said "Come and eat", and they knew it was the Lord. And Jesus gave them bread and fish. And this was the third time that Jesus showed himself to his disciples after he was risen from the dead.
After they had eaten, Jesus said to Peter, "Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me more than these?" and Peter said "Yes Lord, you know that I love you." And Jesus said "Feed my lambs." And again he said "Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me?" and Peter said "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." And Jesus said "Feed my sheep" And then a third time Jesus said "Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me?" and Peter said "Lord you know all things, you know that I love you." And Jesus said "Feed my sheep. Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you dressed yourself, and walked wherever you wanted to go, but when you are old, you will stretch forth your hands, and someone else shall take you where you do not want to go." And this Jesus said, showing Peter by his death that he would glorify God. And then Jesus spoke and said to Peter "Follow me."
And so Jesus appeared to his disciples for forty days, and spoke of all the things that had to do with the kingdom of God. And then he told them that they should not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the Holy Ghost to come upon them. And after he had spoken to them, while they watched, Jesus was taken up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they looked steadily up to heaven as he went up, two men stood by them in white clothing. And said to the disciples "You men of Galilee, why do you stand here gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall come in the same way as you have seen him go into heaven."
And so they went back to Jerusalem just as the Lord Jesus had told them to do.
Memory Verse: Acts 1:11"This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come the same way."
