One day the Lord Jesus was teaching his disciples about the kingdom of heaven. And he told them that the kingdom of heaven was like treasure which was hid in a field. And that when a man had found the treasure, he hid it, and was so filled with joy that he went and sold everything he had so that he could buy the field.
And he told them that the kingdom of heaven was like a merchant, that is a man that sells things. And that the man was looking for some beautiful pearls. And when he found one that was worth more than all the others, he sold everything he had, and bought the pearl.
He also told them that the kingdom of heaven was like a net that was thrown into the sea, and gathered every kind. When it was full, the fisherman pulled it to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good things but threw away the bad things.
And it shall be at the end of the world the angels shall come forth and separate the wicked from the just (that means separate those that have not received the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, from those that have received the Lord Jesus.)
From these stories the disciples understood that the kingdom of heaven was very precious, and that nothing was more important than to be part of the kingdom of heaven.
